About this place
A counter at the back of the restaurant is where you order - from the menu that isn't huge but is varied enough to accommodate a range of tastes - and pay. The small kitchen is open behind the counter, so diners can easily watch their food being prepared.
The clean and pleasant decor makes for a comfortable, homey feeling. The small dining area is a pleasant powder-blue color that is complemented by the blue swirl tablecloths that cover about half the tables in the room. The other half don't have any coverings. The right-hand wall is mirrored, and the artwork on the other walls consists of paintings of things like boats and Jesus.
Uncle Dean's offers three appetizers: 10 Hot Wings ($6.99), Dilly Dean's Fried Pickles ($2.99) and an Egg Roll ($1.49). I ordered the wonderful fried pickles. Instead of the dill chips most places serve, Dean's uses dill pickle spears that are flavorfully breaded and fried to a crispy brown. Be careful when you take that first bite - they'll come to your table very, very hot.
