Jindal files suit over Common Core August 27, 2014 at 1:53 p.m.

I have several friends who are teachers, and I have seen that the younger teachers are embracing it, while the older teachers who "have always done it that way" are the ones resistant to the change.

The plague in Harrison August 26, 2014 at 8:15 a.m.

The administrators of the schools and of the hospital are not just responsible for their own safety - they are responsible for the safety of several thousand students and patients. While it is very easy for me to scoff at the irrational fear, I am not personally responsible for 3,000 children on a daily basis.

Still love your ex-in-laws? August 19, 2014 at 11:56 a.m.

I lost my former mother-in-law a few years ago. There was a whole row full of us "outlaws" at her funeral - three of her chlldren's ex-spouses and even the parents and other family members of the ex-spouses. She was a wonderful lady, a wonderful mother-in-law, and a wonderful grandmother.

LR parking meters not always on money August 19, 2014 at 8:29 a.m.

The bigger concern, these meters have been in place for about 10 months and have already required this much maintenance? If this were a new car, the lemon law would be in force. I would think Duncan needs to replace all the equipment or refund and let the city shop somewhere else.

Wal-Mart profit, earnings per share up slightly; U.S. sales flat August 14, 2014 at 2:12 p.m.

And they are not making any money from me until they can take my money quicker. I have waited in a long checkout for the last time.

Should be driver's choice August 1, 2014 at 11:55 a.m.

Jim Blok, another law that has always puzzled me is the fact that alcohol cannot be sold on Sunday. That is definitely a "Christian-based law".

Typical of what, Lay?

Parolee bitten by police dog after vehicle chase ends in home's backyard, report says July 28, 2014 at 3:16 p.m.

Hope the dog doesn't catch any disease from the bite.

Teen offenders leave cells behind July 28, 2014 at 11:43 a.m.

As I read the article, this does not replace school but is in addition to the regular classroom. It runs through the summer and ends on September 1. The purpose is to keep the kids off the street and out of trouble.

Wage petitions need at least 15,000 more signatures July 23, 2014 at 1:13 p.m.

And where were these petitions being circulated? I was never asked to sign one. Petitions for alcohol sales or medical marijuana were in my face practically on my front doorstep.
