Kelsey Herman, Jr, Crossett

Herman is one of the most dominant track and field athletes ever produced by Crossett. Herman led the state in the 100 (12.04), long jump (19 feet, 4 1-2 inches) and high jump (6-0) and ranked second in the 200 (24.80) and 100 hurdles (14.45). Herman’s high jump is the best mark in Arkansas high school history. At the Class 4A state meet, Herman won the 200 (26.01), 100 hurdles (15.27), long jump (19-4.50) and anchored the winning 400 relay (a Class 4A record 47.31). Herman set Class 4A records during the preliminaries in the 100 (12.22) and 200 (24.81). Her long jump was also a Class 4A record. Herman won the 100 hurdles at the Meet of Champs (14.45). Herman capped her season by scoring 4,844 points to win the 17th annual Arkansas High School Heptathlon on May 15-16 at Fayetteville Ramay Junior High
