Arkansas State Police on Tuesday called attention to state law regarding cellphone use while driving with a video showing a trooper narrowly avoiding a head-on crash.

A video of a state trooper's vehicle narrowly avoiding a head-on crash got a lot of attention this week after it was shared to highlight laws on cellphone use while driving.

The dashboard-camera footage from 2010, which was posted Tuesday morning by Arkansas State Police to the agency's Facebook page, shows a sedan veering across the centerline of a Baxter County highway.

The trooper dodges the oncoming car by swerving into the grass, then loops around to pull over driver.

"You almost killed us both," he says as he approaches the woman. "What were you doing, looking at something?"

"Yeah, cellphone," she replies slowly.

"I'm shaken as bad as you are," the trooper tells her. He later writes her a ticket.

"I am so sorry," she says. "I don't think I'll ever, ever look at a cellphone again. Ever, ever, ever. It ain't worth it."

Using a mobile device to text or access social media sites while driving is illegal in the state, according to the law cited by Arkansas State Police in the Facebook post.

The video had garnered more than 85,000 views as of Wednesday afternoon.
