CAVE SPRINGS — The desire for a cigarette apparently led a Huntsville man to end a standoff with Benton County law officers after he dropped his cigarette lighter from the top of a cellphone tower.
Ronald Jeff Grigg was arrested for felony aggravated assault and first-degree terroristic threatening and misdemeanor drunken, insane and disorderly conduct.
Deputies were called to the tower Sunday where they found Grigg on top of it and with several weapons that he fired at the officers.
Sheriff Keith Ferguson told the Rogers Morning News that negotiators were called — but that Grigg surrendered after apparently accidentally dropping his lighter and deciding he wanted a cigarette.
Grigg was being held Monday in the Benton County Jail without bond.
