Building the Herbarium

The Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission Herbarium is a research-ready repository of plants found in Arkansas and neighboring states. With help from volunteers like Barbara Baker of Hot Springs Village, collected plant specimens are preserved and mounted on posters, with identification information verified by expert volunteers including Eric Sundell. The collection is being digitized so it will be available to the public online. Writer Jerry Butler visited volunteers and the herbarium.
