Clinton, Edwards, Richardson all file for Arkansas primary

Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Rodham Clinton, John Edwards, Bill Richardson and Barack Obama filed papers Wednesday with the Arkansas secretary of state to appear on the state's Feb. 5 primary ballot.

Attorney General Dustin McDaniel, the chairman of Clinton's Arkansas campaign, made the filing Wednesday and was accompanied by several supporters of Clinton's bid. Clinton, who served as the state's first lady for 12 years, already paid a $2,500 filing fee to the state party.

Clinton has opened a campaign office in Little Rock and has campaigned in the state. Former President Clinton plans to campaign on her behalf in Arkansas in December, campaign officials said Wednesday.

Later Wednesday, a representative from Edwards campaign paid his filing fee to the state party and filed paperwork with the secretary of state certifying he had met the party's requirements to appear on the ballot. Richardson's campaign, which had already paid its fee, filed paperwork with the state Wednesday.

The secretary of state's office received Obama's paperwork in the mail Wednesday, office spokeswoman Natasha Naragon said. Obama also had previously paid his party's filing fee.

Democratic presidential candidate Chris Dodd paid his filing fee Wednesday, a party spokesman said, but Dodd has not yet filed any paperwork with the state.
