Arkansas' Patrick Beverley, who would have been the team's top returning scorer, will not play this season, according to a UA news release.

Former Arkansas basketball player Patrick Beverley has signed to play in Europe under a former NBA coach, Beverley's sports agent said Tuesday.

Agent Bernie Lee, with Lee Basketball Services, says Beverley left Tuesday morning for Ukraine, where he will play on the BC Dnipro team.

Lee says BC Dnipro is coached by Bob Donewald, formerly an assistant for the Cleveland Cavaliers who coached LeBron James in his rookie season.

Lee described the move as "the best of both worlds, in that Patrick is signing with European team, but playing for an NBA coach."

Beverley played two seasons at Arkansas. He would have been the Razorbacks' top returning scorer, but the school announced in August he wouldn't be playing this season. The school didn't say why. Beverley started 33 games last season, averaging 12.1 points per game.
