Kinders debut CD with free concert

— Children's musicians Brian and Terri Kinder of Little Rock will celebrate the release of their sixth CD, Traveling On, with a free concert, to include several of the 15 songs in the new collection. The CD release party will be 2 to 3 p.m. May 17 in the Darragh Center at downtown Little Rock's Main Library.

The song "Rhythm Band" exists "because I always wanted to have a rhythm band," complete with cowbell, songwriter Brian Kinder says, while wearing a bright red sweatshirt that reads, "I Like Being a Kid."

And the sight of a funny hat made to look like a chicken prompted him to write "Farmer Fred (with a chicken on his head ... I wonder if it stays there when he goes to bed").

The CD party will be the first show in the Kinders' summer lineup of about 90 performances in Arkansas, Missouri,Oklahoma and Louisiana. Details are at www.kindersongs.com
