Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour goes onto the walls

— The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville is hosting a preview exhibition of works created by the artisans participating in this year’s ninth annual Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour.

Continuing through Tuesday, Sept. 14, selections by 17 of the more than 40 studio tour artists will be on view in the Roy Row Sr. and Imogene Row Johns Library and Academic Building on the east side of UACCB. The exhibition includes paintings, photography, weavings, a hand-crafted broom and mixed media works incorporating clay, metal and wood. The public is invited to view the exhibit from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to noon Fridays.

Everyone is invited to attend the closing reception, hosted by Citizens Bank, at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14. Many of the artists will be available during the reception, and for that one night, additional three-dimensional works will be on display.

The Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour will be Friday, Sept. 17, through Sunday, Sept. 19. It is a free self-guided driving tour of artists’ studios in and around Mountain View, Calico Rock, Pineville, Leslie and Fox.

A preview copy of the 2010 Guide to Artists Studios is on view at the exhibit, and individual copies will be made available at the closing reception.
