HOT SPRINGS — Authorities say a police officer was shot in the shoulder inside a gated resort community near Hot Springs.
Officials say Diamondhead police officer Fred Ensminger was wounded near Lake Catherine on Wednesday but was able to drive back to the gates of the community and get help.
Officials say Ensminger was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hot Springs and is expected to recover.
The Garland County sheriff’s office didn’t immediately return telephone calls seeking comment.
Details about what led to the shooting weren’t immediately released.
