Ex-county official guilty in sex case

— A former director of the Sharp County Office of Emergency Service pleaded guilty to four counts of second-degree sexual assault Tuesday, avoiding a jury trial scheduled in Ash Flat for later this month.

Pete Reilly, 66, was charged with sexually abusing four minors, said Prosecuting Attorney Henry Boyce of Newport.

Reilly had been the county’s emergency director for 26 years. He was arrested in March 2009.

He was sentenced to 20 years in prison and ordered to pay a fine of $5,000. Reilly was taken into custody Tuesday and awaits transfer to the Arkansas Department of Correction, Boyce said.
