Ark. man suspsected of kidnapping daughter in Ky.

— An Arkansas man is suspected of kidnapping his daughter from a residence in Kentucky, prompting authorities there to issue an Amber Alert.

According to information posted on the website of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, 6-year-old Shelly Bailey was taken from her aunt's residence in Loyall, Ky. shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday. She was reportedly waiting to be picked up by child services when the abduction occurred.

Authorities say they have been in contact with her father, Larry Bailey, 51, who said he "was not going to let the child go into Foster care and would let the State of Arkansas fight over (her) custody," according to the alert. In a subsequent phone conversation with police on Wednesday, Bailey made threats referencing harming Shelly and refusing to comply with police, the alert said.

Investigators say Bailey may be returning to Arkansas.

Bailey is described as a white man with blue eyes who weighs 168 pounds and stands 5-foot-8. Shelly has sandy-colored hair and brown eyes. She weighs 48 pounds and is 40 inches tall.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
