Crews contain 13 Arkansas wildfires on Monday

The Arkansas Forestry Commission says crews have contained 13 wildfires that burned in parts of Arkansas.

High winds throughout the state Tuesday could hamper firefighters' efforts to keep the blazes in check.

Commission spokesman Christina Fowler says no injuries were reported or homes damaged as a result of the Monday fires in Pike and Pope counties.

The fires came after nearly 80 blazes during the weekend burned about 2,600 acres in at least six different counties. Fowler said the largest scorched an estimated 700 acres near Dennard in Van Buren County and destroyed one home and four outbuildings. A cause of the fires has not been determined.

County judges have issued burn bans in Boone, Carroll, Conway, Madison, Searcy and Van Buren counties.
