Guest lab assistants attend Dr. NoGood at Museum of Discovery

— A change of venue to the Great Hall of the Clinton Presidential Center didn’t dampen the mad fun had Oct. 20 by those attending the 10th annual Uncorked: Mad Scientist Mash.

The benefit for the Museum of Discovery, currently undergoing renovations, offered the usual - a wine tasting, succulent refreshments, a silent auction and a wine pull. Several interactive experiments were pulled off by assistants of mad scientist Dr. Cornelius NoGood (Stephen Ast), who mingled with the large crowd. A short program featured remarks by museum Executive Director Nan Selz and a DVD touting the museum.

Specialties on hand included a signature cocktail, “The Rock Island,” served in test tubes, and frozen Chee-Tos, which made for a smoke-exhaling treat. Guests also had the chance to meet the museum’s live animals.

Christy and Stuart Jackson served as co-chairmen of the event, which was presented by the law firm of Wright, Lindsey & Jennings. Proceeds will benefit the statewide educational programs of the museum, which is scheduled to reopen in January.
