FRIDAY Pageant Entry Deadline NEWPORT - Friday is the deadline to enter the Miss Three Rivers and Miss Three Rivers OutstandingTeen Pageants, to be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 8 in the Center for the Arts at Arkansas State University-Newport. Divisions include ages 3 to 24. Residents of the following counties are eligible to compete: Jackson, Independence, Lawrence, Woodruff, White, Lonoke, Randolph, Poinsett, Craighead and Cross. Pageant Entry Deadline NEWPORT - The Jacksonport courthouse was in operation for only 20 years as a place of justice. During that time, two men were hanged for the crime of murder. Join a park interpreter from 6:30-7 p.m. at the Jacksonport State Park campground to explore the history of one of these murder trials.
