Students at Kirksey Middle School were kept in classrooms Monday morning while police investigated a shooting that took place at the school Sunday night.
Edwin Saldana, age 19, of Rogers, was treated and released from Mercy Medical Center for a gunshot wound, according to Keith Foster, public information officer for the Rogers Police Department.
“We were searching at the school for evidence,” Foster said Monday afternoon. “It was also a safety factor for the kids.”
Saldana’s injure injury is not believed to be self-inflicted, according to Foster.
Foster said police received a call at approximately 9:58 p.m. Sunday from personnel in the Mercy Medical Center emergency room regarding Saldana.
Foster said detectives were still interviewing witnesses Monday afternoon and more information be released today.
