FAYETTEVILLE — Former Little Rock Central basketball standout Alandise Harris intends to transfer to Arkansas from Houston, he said Tuesday.
Harris (6-foot-6, 230 pounds) has completed two years of eligibility at Houston. He will redshirt the 2012-13 season at Arkansas unless he applies for and is granted a waiver for immediate eligibility, per NCAA transfer rules.
As a sophomore, Harris averaged 13.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game for the Cougars. He had one of his best games against Arkansas last November in North Little Rock, scoring 18 points in the Cougars' 87-78 win at Verizon Arena.
Arkansas could have up to six newcomers in its program next season. The Razorbacks signed three high school seniors in the fall and are expected to sign at least two more in the spring signing period, which begins Wednesday.
Harris is the second former Arkansas high school basketball standout to transfer to the Razorbacks since Mike Anderson was hired as the Razorbacks' head coach last year.
Fred Gulley, a two-time state player of the year at Fayetteville High School, transferred to Arkansas from Oklahoma State in January and will be eligible to play for the Razorbacks after the completion of the university's academic semester this fall.
