Jets oust general manager; Reid out as NFL teams make changes

Mike Tannenbaum was fired as general manager of the New York Jets and Andy Reid was let go by the Philadelphia Eagles, ending the longest active coaching tenure in the National Football League.

The Cleveland Browns fired general manager Tom Heckert and coach Pat Shurmur; Kansas City Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel, Buffalo Bills coach Chan Gailey and Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith were let go; and the Jacksonville Jaguars dismissed general manager Gene Smith one day after the conclusion of NFL’s regular season.

Rex Ryan will remain the Jets’ coach, team owner Woody Johnson said in an e-mailed statement a day after the team completed a 6-10 season with a 28-9 loss to the Bills.

Clark Hunt, the Chiefs’ chairman, said Monday that “no final determination has been made” on the future of general manager Scott Pioli.
