110 degree heat forecast in Arkansas

— The National Weather Service was forecasting Monday temperatures as high as 110 degrees and a high danger of wildfire in Arkansas.

Forecasters said humidity is expected to drop below 30 percent Monday across the state, making it easier for fires to start.

Also, forecasters said, a cool front is approaching from the north, and southwest winds ahead of the front will help fires spread more easily. Some thunderstorms are possible.

A heat advisory was in effect for all of Arkansas until 7 p.m. The highest temperatures are expected west of a line from Camden to Stuttgart.

Burn bans were in place for 60 of Arkansas’ 75 counties.

The Arkansas Forestry Commission has upgraded the fire danger to extreme for most of the state.
