Travelers squander Lopez’s two HRs

— Roberto Lopez hit two home runs, but newcomer Jarrett Grube gave up five runs in five innings and the Arkansas Travelers lost 9-3 to the Tulsa Drillers at Oneok Field in Tulsa on Monday night.

The loss, which featured three home runs among the Drillers’ 15 hits, snapped the Travs’ four-game winning streak, their longest since they won five consecutive games in April.

But Tulsa scored four runs in the second, three of which came from a Warren Schaeffer home run, and added a run in the fifth and sixth innings and three in the eighth off reliever Dakota Robinson.

Lopez’s first home run came in the sixth off Tulsa starter Brandon Hynick to get the Travs within 5-2. He homered again in the ninth off reliever Michael Marbry, for his 10th of the season.

Lopez went 3 for 4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI, but the rest of the Travs had only 4 hits. Darwin Perez drove in a run in the fifth when his ground out scored Jimmy Swift.

Reliever Buddy Boshers gave up a home run to Ben Paulsen in the sixth and Nolan Arenado’s two-run home run was among the Drillers’ three runs in the eighth.

Lars Davis went 3 for 4 with 1 run and 1 RBI for the Drillers, while Jimmy Cesario, Angelys Nina, Mike Zuanich and Michael Mitchell each had two hits. Tulsa had lost four consecutive games before Monday.
