Hot dogs sell for $1501 to benefit homeless
Watch VideoFour buyers bought hot dogs from Mike Juiliano of Hot Dog Mike at the River Market plaza, raising $6,000. The funds will be donated to the One, a non-profit that operates a van that brings firewood, socks and toiletries, among other things, to the homeless of Little Rock.
Juiliano said he got the idea after he saw a hot dog selling for $100 on the Internet. He said he posted on Twitter that he wanted to sell one for $200 and a bidding war between his followers began. His initial idea evolved into creating the world's most expensive hot dog and donating the proceeds.
Sharon Bennett-Goodson of Little Rock paid for her lunch in cash, and anonymous donors bought the other dogs, which were given to Juiliano's friends and benefactors of the One.
