We’re living in a world swamped with clever devices: smart phones, iPads, flat-screen TVs and various other electronic paraphernalia that, for many, are not just conveniences or useful tools. They are essential to life itself.

Whether that’s good or bad is another matter. But the truth is, those digital devices can get awfully dirty.

Smart phones and iPads in particular can get downright grimy thanks to all the tapping and sliding you do with your fingers. But even the screens you don’t touch all the time can get dusty and smudged.

They’re not like glass. You can’t just clean them with a paper towel and a few squirts from a no-streak cleaner.

So Windex has come up with cleaners designed for electronic gear: phones, televisions, computers, remote controls, e-readers, keyboards and so on.

The wipes work like any other. Pull one out of the package and wipe the surface, cleaning it of oil, dust and whatever else has accumulated.

They’re advertised as streak-free and leave no residue. I wouldn’t say they’re entirely streak-free, but the streaks that were left on my laptop screen were pretty faint. It would be a good idea to spot-test before applying the wipes to whatever surface you’re cleaning.

Windex also has a spray and dry cloths option.
