Weather postpones Rand Paul visit to Arkansas

HOT SPRINGS — U.S. Sen. Rand Paul's planned visit to Arkansas has been postponed because of the wintry weather.

Paul had been scheduled to speak at a Republican Party of Arkansas event Friday night in Hot Springs. But the state party said the speech has been postponed until early 2014 because of the weather.

The party plans to announce the new date once details are confirmed with Paul's office.

Paul is a freshman Republican senator from Kentucky and the son of former U.S. Rep. Ron Paul.

The wintry weather also prompted the postponement of state committee meetings for the state GOP party and the Democratic Party of Arkansas. Both parties had planned to hold committee meetings Saturday, but the events were pushed back because of the weather.
