Shooting at Hope gas station injures 3; arrest made

A Hope man has been arrested in a shooting in which three people were injured in a shooting outside a convenience store.

Officers arrested Keith Moses, 27, of Hope, about 2:25 p.m. Thursday and charged him in connection with the shooting, the Hope Police Department said in a statement.

Hope police officers were called about 3 a.m. to the Triple J Shell gas station in the 2600 block of North Hervey Street, where they learned a large crowd had amassed outside the store and gunshots had been fired, Assistant Chief Kimberly Tomlin said in an earlier statement.

Moses has been charged with multiple offenses, including three counts of first degree battery, four counts of aggravated assault, first degree criminal mischief and possession of firearms by certain persons. He is currently being held in the Hempstead County Detention Facility awaiting his first court appearance, police say.

Three people who appeared to have gunshot wounds were taken to Wadley Regional Medical Center in Hope by personal vehicle, Tomlin said. The injured were identified as Summerrial Threadgill, 20, and Bridgett Currey, 24, both of Magnolia, and Roderick Purifoy, 28, of Bluff City.
