Four Arkansans killed in wrecks on state roadways

Four people died after separate accidents last week, according to preliminary Arkansas State Police crash reports.

About 3 a.m. Friday, Arturo Garcia, 20, of Manila, was driving a 2008 Nissan east on Mississippi County Road 314 just east of Arkansas 18 when he veered off the road, state police said. Garcia’s vehicle overturned, and he died of his injuries at the accident site, state police said.

Karen Henry, 56, of Warren died Wednesday after a head-on collision in Bradley County, a preliminary report states.

About 6:30 p.m., Henry drove north on North Martin Street in Warren in a Chevrolet truck when a southbound Chevrolet pickup, driven by Armando Roque, crossed the center line, state police said.

The two pickups collided, killing Henry at the accident site, state police said. Roque, 42, of Warren was uninjured, state police said.

Earlier Wednesday, Hugh Brown, 66, of Arkadelphia, died after a collision in Montgomery County, state police said.

About 2:50 p.m., Brown headed east on U.S. 270 in a 2004 Mercury Sable and began negotiating a curve when he crossed into the opposite lane, state police said. He struck a westbound Toyota, driven by Angelina Lewis, 46, of Fayetteville.

Lewis and two of her passengers - Forest Davis, 20, and Lileah Davis, 14 - were injured and taken to Mercy Hospital, the report states.

About 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, James Russell, 44, of Hope drove south on Arkansas 29 in a Jeep. When he hit a curve, Russell, left the highway and struck several trees, state police said.

He was taken to Wadley Hospital in Hope, where he later died, the report states.
