LITTLE ROCK — A Jefferson County man was arrested Saturday after his wife died of stab wounds en route to a hospital, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
Maj. Lafayette Woods of the Jefferson County sheriff ’s office said that about 2:20 p.m., county dispatchers received a call from George Cage, 31, who said he had just shot his wife. When sheriff’s deputies got to the home at 9704 Huntley Trail, they found Cage’s wife with multiple stab wounds, Woods said.
The woman died en route to Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Woods said. Authorities did not identify the woman since her next-of-kin had not been notified Saturday.
Investigators arrested Cage after interviewing him. He was being held Saturday evening in the Jefferson County jail. No bail had been set.
