HOT SPRINGS — Authorities say a man was arrested on felony charges after a security guard reported he caught him stealing copper wire from a vacant hotel in downtown Hot Springs.
Police say a security guard was making a routine check at the Majestic Hotel on Monday afternoon when he reportedly saw three people near a pickup with the bed full of insulated copper wiring.
The Sentinel-Record reported that the guard called police, and two of the people fled.
A third man was arrested on charges of commercial burglary and theft of scrap metal.
Police say the truck contained about 1,500 pounds of copper wiring, valued at $6,000.
Authorities believe the wiring was removed the breaker room at the Majestic Hotel.
