WYNELLE AKIN, 89, of North Little Rock passed away Sunday June16, 2013, with her loving family and caretakers by her side. She was born in 1923 in Linden, Texas, to the late Thomas Garfield and Lavinia Sadine Williams.

She retired from the Missouri Pacific/Union Pacific railroad after 40 years of service. She was a member of the National Association of Railway Business Women, where she held various local and national offices. She was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church, where she was a faithful member of the Steeple Team. She volunteered for many years for Care Link delivering Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed traveling, reading, crossword puzzles and watching Razorback sports.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, T.G. Williams; sister, Josephine Williams; and loving husband, William Lee AkinJr. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Akin of Little Rock; a son, Thomas Akin of Little Rock; and granddaughter, Laura Akin of Fayetteville.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 19, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in North Little Rock. A celebration of her life will be at 10 a.m Thursday at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills with graveside services to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander. REBA LORA JOHNSON BOOZER entered into eternal rest and healing on June 18, 2013. She was born December 11, 1932, in Paragould, Arkansas. She was the youngest daughter of Willie C. and Mary Elizabeth Price Johnson.

Preceding herin death were her parents; her beloved husband, Bill Boozer; sister, Charleie Marion Pillow; and brother, Von Rae Johnson. She is survived by her sister, Vivian Maxine Pickens; her children, Pamela (Wayne) Hargis and Timothy Boozer; and her much loved grandchildren, Lora Elizabeth (Michael) Linder, Adam Timothy Hargis and Samuel Alan Boozer. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Reba Boozer worked for the Pulaski County Special School District for 20 years as a registrar at Jacksonville Elementary. She always loved the hustle and bustle of the office and the children.

She served First Baptist Church for more than 25 years by rocking babies in the nursery. Oh, how she loved those babies! She was Granny Reba to them all. Before that, she spent about 10 years serving as a teacher in the preschool departments at the church. She preferred to work where only her Lord knew what she was doing. She did not need man’s praise.

JORDAN RYNE CURTIS, 22, of Little Rock, passed away Sunday,June 16, 2013. He was born on September 24, 1990 to Todd and Candi Curtis. He was a 2009 graduate of Catholic High where he was a member of the State Championship Soccer team and The NationalSociety of High School Scholars for academic excellence. He was a Chancellor’s Scholar while attending U of A in Fayetteville in preparation for his ultimate goal of healing others as a doctor. He was a proud member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, whose values he exemplified every day. He had a selfless love and respect for others.

He is survived by his parents, one sister, Lauren Elyse Curtis, of Little Rock, Grandparents, Bill and Kay Canada, of Dumas, Carla Curtis of Little Rock; four aunts, Ronda Curtis and Dayna Heaton (Don) of Little Rock; Amy Westerman ( Nathan) and Kara Beth Crow (Nelson) of Dumas; one uncle, Brandon Curtis (Laura) of Denver, and a multitude of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ron Curtis. Jordan was an avid fan of the Razorbacks and Chicago sports - the Bears, Cubs, Bulls, and Blackhawks.

DONALD RAY GRAY, 52, of Scott passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013. He was employed at Hum’s Hardware and Rental. He enjoyed his friends and family above all else.

MERI JOHNSON, 39, of North Little Rock, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013.

JOAN MADONNA KAGAY, 94, of Little Rock passed away June 9, 2013. Joan was born to Irene and Sharon Johnson in Dayton, Ohio. She attended The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. Following graduation in 1941, she worked as a dietitian in Rikes Department store in Dayton, Ohio. She wed Charles Kagay MD in 1945 and was married until his passing in 2006. Joan worked as a volunteer at the Children’s Hospital in Dayton, Ohio prior to moving with her husband to Hilton Head, S.C. in 1987. Joan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Charles Kagay of San Francisco, Calif. and John Kagay MD of Dunedin, Fla.; her daughter, Pamela Brown MD of Little Rock, her sisters, Nan Blackford of Orlando, Fla.; Sue Hurd of Hilton Head, S.C. and Kay Crowe of Columbus, Ohio and her six grandchildren.

AGNES LORRAINE McCUIN, 92 of Little Rock, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013 in Garland, Texas. She was born on June 9, 1921 to the late Arthur August and Frances Hartt Quast. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Kermit McCuin, and four siblings; Ida Marie Sisco, Otto Quast, George Quast, and Neoma Bridges.

Although Lorraine spent time in Texas, she always called Little Rock home. She was of the Baptist faith and had previously attended Martindale Baptist Church. She loved gardening, cooking, and crafts.

As her health declined she was moved to Garland, Texas to live with her daughter who cared for her over the last 11 years of her life.

She is survived by one daughter; Delores Womack, one son; Thomas and wife Carole Anderson, three step-children; Ruby Cornish, J.D. McCuin, and Leroy McCuin, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and host of other family members and friends.

MARY ANN PHILLIPS of Little Rock went to be with Jesus onJune 15, 2013. A Realtor for over 50 years, Mary Ann was the first female president of the Little Rock Board of Realtors and a two time winner of the Realtor of the Year award. She was a feisty, determined, generous woman with a big heart for her family, friends, and community. Committed to her community, Mary Ann served as president of Pulaski County Republican Women. Born June 4, 1925 in Montgomery, Alabama, she graduated Little Rock (Central) High School.

Preceding her in death is her brother, Harry Linden, her husband D. Lee Phillips, her daughter and son-in-law April and Bill Rush.She is survived by her daughter Claudia (Larry) Parks, an “adopted son” John Holmes, grandchildren, Leigh Ann (Craig) Evans, Lindy (Chuck) Gschwend, Summer (Jeremy) Pruett, Liberty Parks, Christian Parks, and eight great-grandchildren.

A few minutes after Fathers Day, GERALD BARTLETT RENNER,83, went to be with his Heavenly Father and joined his parents Gertrude and Delbert Renner and his sister Lois in Heaven. He was born on July 21, 1929 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He issurvived by his wife Bernice and their children, Cathy Suen, Carol Goddard and Michael Renner; grandchildren, Mandy Redfern, Clayton Suen, Debbie Arnold and Jenna Suen; great grandchildren, Katie and Nicholas Redfern.

He attended the University of Minnesota before joining the U.S. Air Force. He served on a B-29 flight crew during the Korean War and was actively involved in photo intellegence. The rest of his military career was spent as a navigator on a B-52 bomber. While stationed at Eglin AFB Gerald was on high alert during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After serving his country in active duty he was part of the Air Force Reserve and he also worked as a navigator for several civilian airlines.

In 1956 he met Bernice Thomazin at Park Ave Methodist Church where they were married on March 15, 1957. In 1971 they moved to Little Rock where he owned and operated the IHOP at Markham and University for 30 years before retiring. He enjoyed making stained glass for which he received multiple blue ribbons at several State Fairs. He enjoyed traveling to visit his family and friends and to explore our great United States along with many other parts of the world. Gerald loved to swim, wear funny hats and ties, and was always known for his kindness, humor, wit, and creativity. He loved his Savior Jesus Christ and his family above all else. He will be missed by all who knew him.

LULA ALICE HARROLD WILLIAMSON of North Little Rock, died athome on June 16, 2013.

Known as Alice, she was born May 24, 1918 in DeWitt County, Illinois to Ira Otis Harrold and Lula Alice Prevatt Faber. She attended El Dorado publicschools and graduated in 1936. She married James (Joe) Shelton Wiliamson on August 1, 1936. They lacked 1 month and 2 days celebrating their 50th anniversary. The oldest son, Joseph (Joe) Harrold Williamson and daughter, Dr. Anna Marie Rago also preceded her in death. She was baptized as an infant in the DeWitt Methodist Church and joined First Methodist Church in El Dorado at the age of six. As the family moved, so did she move her membership withinthe Methodist Church. She worked and supported her church until her death. She was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church at the time of her death.

After moving to North Little Rock in 1967, she worked for North Little Rock School District as a secretary, retiring in 1987. She has been an active member of Beta Alpha Chapter, Chi Sigma Sorority Inc., since 1988.

She is survived by her two sons, James Franklin (Jimmy) and his wife Aylma, of El Dorado and her youngest son, Neill of Fayetteville. She also has six grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

HAROLD R. ZOOK, 86, of Little Rock, passed away June 17,2013. Preceded in death by his wife, Florence and daughter, Teni Jo. He is survived by his sons, Harold R. Zook III of Little Elm, Texas and Robert Zook of Little Rock; daughters, Sharron Zook of Bay City, Texas and Carol Ann Edwards of McKinney, Texas; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Harold was born, educated, worked and retired in the city of Little Rock. His career spanned 47 years in the field of criminal justice, employed by the City of Little Rock, the State of Arkansas and the U.S. Government and was a former member of national and international organizations.

Harold served on active duty in the U.S. Navy during World War II, the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and the U.S. Army during the Berlin Crisis. He touched many lives and was a friend to many people.

ARKADELPHIA - Charles Lawson Overstreet, age 79, of Arkadelphia died Tuesday, June 18, 2013. He was born June 29, 1933 in Rosebud the son of the late Charlie Everett and Elberta Wilkinson Overstreet. He was a retired welder/ fabricator and an active member of Boughton Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Kelly Marlar Overstreet and daughter Sharon Kay Overstreet. CONWAY - Thaddeus Eldean Stanton, 87, of Conway, passedaway on June 17, 2013, at Covenant Care of Greenbrier. He was born on March 15, 1926, on Horseshoe Mountain to Claude and Roma McMillan Stanton. He was predeceased by his parents;

brothers Eldwin, J.O. and W.C. Stanton; and sister, Libby Clements. Also in heaven to greet him is his granddaughter, Olivia Grace.

Thad was raised in the Bono Community. After graduation from Greenbrier High School in 1944, he joined the Army. He served with the 10th Mountain Division in Italy and was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery in combat. He attended ASTC (now UCA) then worked for the U.S. Soil Conservation Service in Arkansas and Conway Counties. Beginning in 1966, he was part of the construction crew for Toadsuck Lock and Dam, where he was later made lockmaster in 1969. He retired in 1990. Thad was active in the Conway Rotary, where he served as president. He was also involved in the Faulkner County Historical Society, Cadron Settlement Park Committee and the Conway Chamber of Commerce.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janelle Wilcox Stanton; son, Dr. Michael Stanton (Denise) of Conway; daughters, Nancy LeMaster (Gray) of Little Rock and Susan Gray (Glenn) of Conway; grandsons, Luke, Zack (Molly), Spencer (Ashley), Caleb, Isaac, Gabriel, Silas and Eli Stanton; Jeff (Beka), Jacob (Leighann), Will (Kathryn) and Seth (Sarah) LeMaster; granddaughters, Jessica (Daniel) Huddleston, Hailey (Evan) Johnson and Anna Gray; great-grandchildren, Cosette and Cora LeMaster, Conner, Shepherd, Julia, and Olivia Stanton.

DERMOTT - Emma Fay Deckelman Baxter, age 85, of Dermott, Ark., passed away Monday, June 17, 2013, at her home in Dermott. She was born to the late Arthur and Helen Irene Gardner Deckelman on November 1, 1927, in Calion, Arkansas. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Steven Center Baxter, daughter, Patricia Helen Baxter, a sister, Maxine Garceau, and brothers Conlyn Deckelman, Arthur Deckelman and Frederick Deckelman.

Mrs. Baxter was of the Baptist faith and graduated from the University of Arkansas Monticello A&M with a BA in Education. She taught school for several years in Arkansas and Texas. She was a former member of the Arkansas State Nursing Board, the Current Topic Book Club and the Third & Fourth Club.

Mrs. Baxter is survived by her husband of 59 years, John Mitchell Baxter of Dermott, Ark., a daughter, Andrea Bess Baxter of Albuquerque, N.M., two brothers, Leroy Deckelman of Crossett, Ark., and Thomas Deckelman of Odenville, Ala., two sisters, Gloria Higginbotham of Hamburg, Ark., and Helen Wolfe of Gillett, Ark.

HICKORY RIDGE - Edsel Vincent Chapman, Sr., 93, of Hickory Ridge,departed this life on June 17, 2013, in Jacksonville. He was born on July 22, 1919, in Tilton, Arkansas, the son of Dale Stanley and Emma Ethel Rogers Chapman.

He and his brothers droppedout of school to support the family after the early death of their father. They worked hard all their lives and were proud veterans of WWII. Edsel was a retired rice farmer who was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was the last of his generation of the Chapman Family. He served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at the Fair Oaks Baptist Church for many years until his health forced him to move to the Little Rock area to be with his children.

Mr. Chapman was preceded in death by his parents: Stanley Chapman and Emma Burns; wife: Josephine Marie Burton Chapman; three brothers and their wives: Hershel and Norman Jean Chapman, Kenneth and Earline Chapman, Fendol and Nina Chapman. Edsel is survived by his children: Edsel Chapman, Jr. and wife Cindy of Jacksonville, Shirley Ballard and husband Rev. Larry Ballard of Little Rock, and Ronald Chapman of Holly Springs, Mississippi, nine grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.

LONOKE - Norene C. Pope went home to be with our Lord on June 16, 2013 after a long battle with heart problems. She worked for several years as a CNA and eventually went into doing home health care where she touched so many lives with her love and thoughtfulness. She stopped home health care to work at the Lonoke Senior Citizen Center as a helper to Barbara Williams. At the same time getting her apartment at the center, she commented both were a prayer answered and a great blessing. Norene was a member of Rock City Harvest Church in Sherwood.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Strill and Maurine Chadwick, brothers, Earl and Chuck Carter. PRESCOTT - William (Bill) Teeter 86, a lifelong resident of Prescott, passed away on June 17, 2013. He proudly served in the 8th Army Air Force during World War II. He was a gunner in a B-17. Bill and his late brother John Teeter were well known for Teeter Brothers Men’s Clothing Store in downtown Prescott. Teeter had friends statewide from his days as a traveling salesman taking orders for Enro shirts. They also managed timber interests in Nevada County.

SHERIDAN - Charles E. “Buddy” Taylor, 79, a resident of Sheridan, formerly of Pine Bluff, passed away June 17, 2013. He was born October 18, 1933, to the late L.C. Taylor and Rilza Owens Taylor of Grapevine. In addition to his parents, he waspreceded in death by a sister, Sudie Taylor Rodgers.

He was raised in Grapevine and graduated from Grapevine High School. He attended Flurr Business School in Pine Bluff. He worked at Southern Electric as a motor winder and advanced to shop foreman. He served two years in North Carolina as a paratrooper during the Korean conflict. He was an electrician at Ben Pearson Mfg. Company before joining International Paper Mill, where he retired with 35 years of service. He also owned and operated Charles Taylor RV Sales and Service in Pine Bluff and later in Sheridan. He was a member of Hedden Chapel Assembly of God Church in Grapevine but attended New Life Fellowship in Sheridan.

He is survived by his wife, Lavell Wilson Taylor, of 56 years; two daughters, Teresa Taylor Grace of Little Rock and Dianna Taylor of Hensley; two granddaughters, Meagan Grace of Little Rock and Summer Taylor Malott of Sheridan; and his most precious and beloved Daisy. Other survivors include two brothers, Shelby Taylor and Jimmy Taylor, both of Sheridan; and one sister, Joyce Hudspeth of White Hall.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, Ala. - Russell Vaughn Carroll, Mountain Brook, Ala., died June 17, 2013, at the age of 92. Born May 13, 1921, in Augusta, Ga., he was the son of Cornelia Vaughn Carroll and Charles Marion Carroll. The family later moved to Little Rock, Ark., where he finished high school. Following graduation from Little Rock High School, he continued his studies at The Citadel, Military College of South Carolina, in Charleston. Veteran of World War II, Russell served with the 8th Air Force stationed in England. Following the war, Russell enrolled at The University of Arkansas, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. In 1957, he settled in Birmingham, Ala., where he was employed by EBSCO Industries, Inc., from which he retired in 1986.

A memorial service will be held at St. Mary’s-onthe-Highlands at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013, followed by commitment of ashes in the church’s columbarium, The Reverend H. Huey Gardner, officiating.

LUTHER, Okla. - Noel Houston Stout, 86 year old resident of Luther, Okla., passed away June 13, 2013. Funeral services are June 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Tri-County Funeral Home.
