I-430, I-40, I-30 lane closures set in central Arkansas

Road work will induce lane closures over the weekend on part of Interstate 430 in Little Rock and next week on Interstate 40 in North Little Rock, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said Friday.

The installation of an overhead sign on the southbound lane of I-430 just south of Breckenridge Drive will require a double-lane closure and occasional 15-minute-long total closures from 11 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday, the department said. Northbound traffic won't be affected, highway officials added.

On I-40 in North Little Rock, pavement repairs at the Young Road Overpass, just east of the Crystal Hill Road overpass at mile marker 149, will require the westbound, outside lane to be shut from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, the department said. The work is in response to a March 7 accident in which a tractor-trailer hit the overpass, damaging the bridge and the interstate shoulder, highway officials said.

The bridge and guard rails have been repaired, and the focus now returns to shoring up the road's shoulder, the department said. The work is set to continue for three to four more weeks.

Also, pavement repairs in Saline County will require an Interstate 30 lane closure next week, the department said.

The work will require the westbound, outside lane of I-30 to be shut at mile marker 108, west of the Point View Road overpass, which is just west of U.S. 70, the department said. The work will go from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting, highway officials said.

In addition, continuing bridge deck repairs on Cantrell Road in Little Rock will require a lane closure next week, the department said.

The westbound, outside lane on the Lincoln Viaduct railroad bridge just west of Dillard's corporate headquarters will shut from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, the department said. That work is expected to continue for four to six more weeks.
