July Fourth Celebration
FAIRFIELD BAY — There will be a Fourth of July celebration beginning at 9 a.m. at Woodland Mead Park. Activities will include children’s games, crafts and produce vendors, Arabian horses, $2 miniature golf, and food and drinks for purchase. A parade will start at 9:45 a.m. from the convention center and go down Dave Creek Parkway and through Woodlawn Mead Park around 10 a.m. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. U.S. Army Adventure Simulators
JACKSONVILLE — U.S. Army Adventure simulators will be at the Jacksonville Museum of Military History, 100 Veterans Circle, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is no charge for the simulators or the museum. The simulators will include a chance for visitors to try their hand at a timed shooting event, operate the Electronic Ordnance Disposal Robotic Arm and more. Senior Center Activities
BALD KNOB — The Bald Knob Senior Center holds free bingo the first and third Tuesdays and the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. Daily activities include dominoes, card games and puzzles. Exercise classes are held from 10-10:30 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays. The center also recognizes participants’ birthdays the third Friday of each month with a potluck meal.
SWOP Exhibit
SEARCY — The Small Works on Paper Touring Exhibit will be on display from Saturday through Aug. 10 at the Searcy Art Gallery. There will be an opening reception at the gallery from 1-3 p.m. July 13.

Sanitation Pickup Schedule Change
SEARCY — The city of Searcy Sanitation Department has temporarily changed its hours for safety reasons because of high temperatures. Residential garbage and recycle pickup will begin at 6 a.m. All other areas of operation will remain the same. This scheduling change will remain in effect until further notice.

Tyler Parten Memorial Scholarship Tournament
CHEROKEE VILLAGE — The Cherokee Village Men’s Golf Association will host its first Tyler Parten Memorial Scholarship Tournament at the Cherokee Village South Golf Course on July 13 with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Scholarships, honoring 1st Lt. Parten, will be awarded from the proceeds to a student at Highlands High School and at Lee Academy. Parten, a 2003 graduate of Lee Academy in Marianna and class valedictorian, was killed in Afghanistan, Konar Province, in 2009. He was a scout platoon leader with the 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, in Fort Carson, Colo. The tournament will have four-person teams for $180 (plus a cart, if needed), a scramble format and a $10,000 hole-in-one prize, as well as other prizes. Lunch will be served after play.
Baseball Cross-training Camps
SEARCY — Harding Academy will host its second Baseball Cross-training Camps for boys entering grades 6-9. The four-day camps, which will run July 14-17 and July 17-20, will teach advanced baseball and leadership skills with Christian principles.
