Couple accused of throwing boiling water on each other

A man and his girlfriend were both arrested Monday after they each said the other threw boiling water during a disturbance at their Little Rock home, police said.

Adrian Phillips, 48, and Alfreda Simmons, 31, were each booked into the Pulaski County jail on a charge of third-degree domestic battery. They remained there Tuesday morning with bail not yet set.

Authorities were called to the couple's home in the 2200 block of Perry Street after 6 p.m. Monday, where Phillips said Simmons threw boiling water on his left arm and also bit him, sprayed him with bleach and waved a metal pole at him, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

Simmons, meanwhile, said Phillips threw boiling water on her, causing second-degree burns on her right arm, and bit her left middle-finger, according to a separate arrest report.

Neither report indicated what started the disturbance.

Phillips and Simmons are due in court Nov. 4.
