Okolona Fall Trail Ride
OKOLONA — The public is invited to join a three-day guided open trail ride that leaves daily, Friday through Sunday, from Okolona’s community center and campground at 9 a.m. The trails are on public and private lands that cover rolling hills and countryside. There is no cost to attend. The lineup order is wagons, buggies, carts and horses. All horses must have a current Coggins Test. Camping amenities are available for a fee. Dinner will be served in the community building today, Friday and Saturday, and lunch will be served at the Center Grove Methodist Church on Sunday. B-17 Flying Fortress
Rides and Tours
HOT SPRINGS — One of the last flying World War II B-17 bombers, Sentimental Journey, will be on display and available for rides and tours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Memorial Field Airport in Hot Springs. Sentimental Journey is maintained and operated as a flying museum and veterans memorial by the all-volunteer, nonprofit Commemorative Air Force. Built in 1943, the Journey performed a variety of missions before being retired. The cost of a flight in the B-17 bomber starts at $425 per person; cockpit tours are $5. HOT SPRINGS — Garvan Woodland Gardens will host a children’s workshop titled Dried Flower Garden Bookmarks at 10 a.m. in the Magnolia Room. ARKADELPHIA — The public is invited to view Sweet Tea and Porch Swings, a photography exhibit by Sherry Harmon O’Rorke, at the Arkadelphia Arts Center, 625 Main St., through Oct. 12. O’Rorke is a Henderson State University art major and an Arkadelphia resident. She shares her view of country living in Arkansas through her photographs, which include digital images, cyanotype, Van Dyke brown and traditional silver gelatin prints. Temporary Meal Site
BENTON — The Central Arkansas Development Council Benton Senior Wellness and Activity Center will sponsor a temporary meal site at 11:30 a.m. today and Oct. 4, 10, 17, 24 and 31 at the Johnson Street Church of Christ, 101 Johnson St. The site will serve the Ralph Bunche community and is open to the public. Suggested donations for the meals are $2.50 for people 60 and older, and $6 for people younger than 60. HOT SPRINGS — Garvan Woodland Gardens’ September art exhibit is Brush Strokes, works from an art club of that name headquartered in Hot Springs Village. The exhibit, slated for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Monday, will feature 40 of the club’s artists with works that include watercolors, oils, pastels and mixed mediums. HOT SPRINGS — The National Park Community College Workforce Development Department will hold Introduction to Aerospace classes this fall. The first class will be from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 15, and classes will continue every Tuesday and Thursday until April 15. The program combines classroom instruction and hands-on activities that include safety maintenance practices, shop math, aircraft blueprints, hand tools, precision measuring, aircraft structural materials, aircraft hardware, aircraft sheet metal, composites and maintenance-manual interpretation.
