Mugshot: Jocelyn J Thornton

Arrest date: April 7, 2014

A Little Rock woman pushed an elderly man and assaulted his wife Sunday night after being asked to stop cursing at a local restaurant, authorities said.

Jocelyn Thornton, 33, was arrested about 9:20 p.m. on charges of second-degree battery and second-degree assault.

Police say the victims reported they were eating at Cuisine of China at 7316 Geyer Springs Road when Thornton began cursing as she talked loudly on her phone in the dining room.

The 74-year-old man "asked her to stop cussing," Little Rock police wrote in an arrest report, adding Thornton then went to the couple's table, began pushing the man and cursing his wife as she got up.

Thornton then hit the 69-year-old woman on the side of the face before grabbing her around the neck when she pushed back, the report said. The woman reportedly suffered scratches on her neck and a bruise and scratch on her left wrist.

Thornton remained in the Pulaski County jail Monday morning with bail set at $10,750. She is due in court later Monday for a preliminary appearance.

I am not calling people "racist" gratuitously. When people try to characterize people by the color of their skin; that is racism. If people do not want to be called that, they need to stop making assumptions about people based upon skin color alone.

The NCESdoteddotov indicates that about 38% of black women enrolled in colleges at the beginning of 2005 had graduated by spring of 2013. A nice article at pewresearchdotorg March 6, 2014 "Women's College Enrollment Gains Leave Men Behind" indicates that 69% of black female high school graduates enroll into college.

Now, I don't know what figures are coming out of Arkansas, where college attendance and graduation lag behind much of the rest of the country.

Assault upon the elderly should get her several years in prison. Her actions have condemned her, yet clearly a minority of comments prove that some people will defend her no matter how deserving she is for her actions. This 33 year old has proven herself unfit to live in a civilized society, so off to the animal cage for her.

You are not be talking about me. At 54 and fit, I am not old. Besides, there is nothing wrong with being old. It can be a time of great happiness if you have lived a good life.

Facts are the facts. This wretched woman was obviously under the influences of either plain stupidity or drugs. To attack an elderly couple like this is reprehensible (means: very bad, deserving very strong criticism for those who don't know the big words). And the psycho who attacked this couple, regardless of her social status, race or where she went to school, needs a few years in the pen to get her mind right. This beast attacked this couple on her own accord not because of how or where she was raised.. send her away...I say!

@Populist - The data says the sun is more likely to rise in the east and set in the west. You challenge this data by saying the data also shows the sun is x amount of miles from the earth. One data set has nothing to do with the other. The percentage of baby mommas among a certain demographic has nothing to do with any other certain demographic attending college. And again, I NEVER stereotyped anyone. The data that shows the percentage of unwed black women living in the inner city having babies compared to other women having babies is what it is. The baby momma culture IS NOT limited by race. It is you, Pop. that could be called a racist by your false accusations. And how can we fix any problem without first "pointing it out"?????? The problem is failed liberal social policies that started with the Great Society. One outcome of this failure is a baby momma culture. The solution is to vote for conservative political candidates that do not live in fear of being called a racist by the likes of you for trying to solve the problem. "......example of discourteous behavior...." Like the baby momma that attacked those old folks, or any comment ever made on this forum by your friend djigoo?
