Maumelle AARP Chapter Meeting
MAUMELLE — The Maumelle AARP Chapter will meet at 6 p.m. at the Maumelle Senior Wellness Center. Following a social time, a representative from the William J. Clinton Presidential Center will give a presentation on what the center has to offer, the current exhibit and an upcoming exhibit, and show a short film narrated by Morgan Freeman. Social Science Lecture

Flower and Plant Sale
PETIT JEAN — The annual flower and plant sale sponsored by the Petit Jean Garden Club of Morrilton will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Fullerton Activity Center, 1050 Oak St. (Arkansas 95), on the west side of the Southern Christian Home campus. The many varieties of annuals, grasses, flowering vines, perennials, hanging baskets and potted containers for sale are chosen for their tolerance of the area’s heat and humidity. Master Gardeners will be on-site to help customers with gardening problems and suggest flowers for various conditions. Proceeds from the sale will help fund the club’s plantings and maintenance of gardens at the walking trail, city swimming-pool bathhouse and the Senior Adult Center, as well as a scholarship for a graduating senior in Conway County who plans to pursue a degree in horticulture/agriculture. Show Boat
CONWAY — The Central Baptist College Music Department will perform the musical Show Boat, directed by Suzanne Banister, at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Burgess Auditorium of the Cooper Complex at CBC. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. The public is invited. Show Boat is a 1927 musical in two acts, with music by Jerome Kern, and book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. Based on Edna Ferber’s bestselling novel of the same name, the musical follows the lives of the performers, stagehands and dock workers on the Cotton Blossom, a Mississippi River showboat. The play’s themes include racial prejudice and enduring love. The musical contributed such classic songs as “Ol’ Man River,” “Make Believe” and “Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man.”

Spaghetti Dinner
NEW DIXIE — St. Boniface Catholic Church will have a spaghetti and sausage dinner from 4-7:30 p.m. in St. Boniface Hall. The dinner will feature homemade rolls and peach cobbler. Spring Bazaar
MAYFLOWER — The Mayflower United Methodist Women will hold their Spring Bazaar, beginning at 7 a.m., in the Fellowship Hall of Mayflower United Methodist Church, at the corner of Miller (Arkansas 89) and Grove streets. The event will feature jams and jellies, home-preserved pickles, baked goods and handmade fried pies. The pies, available in chocolate, cherry, apple, peach, blueberry and apricot for $1 each, are cooked in peanut oil. The bazaar will offer handmade cedar bluebird and wren houses, toys, books, collectibles and purses, as well as chances, at $1 each, to win a handmade blue quilt by Cheryl Brannon. The quilt can be viewed at H&B Hardware in Mayflower through Friday. Proceeds form the bazaar will benefit local mission projects. HEBER SPRINGS — The 14th annual Road Runner Car Show will be held Saturday at 1500 Bypass Road. Registration will be from 9-11 a.m. There will be a Rudy the Road Runner Raffle to benefit Margie’s Haven House. The main prize will be a 51-inch Samsung Plasma TV. Tickets are $1 each.
Bread of Life Food Pantry
MORRILTON — The Bread of Life Food Pantry, a ministry of First Baptist Church Morrilton, will sponsor a fish fry and silent auction from 4-7 p.m. in the Family Life Center, 200 E. Church St., across from the courthouse. Catfish dinners will be $10 each, for dining in or picking up at a drive-thru. The silent auction will be from 4-6:30 p.m. and include tickets to Jonah at the Sight & Sound Theatre in Branson, Mo.; day passes to Wild River Country, Magic Springs and Silver Dollar City; Razorback items; hunting and fishing items; sports items; gift certificates to restaurants; and more. Easter-Egg Hunt
CONWAY — The Sigma Kappa Sorority from the University of Central Arkansas will present an Easter-egg hunt at 2 p.m. at Laurel Park, across the street from Conway High School. There will be three age groups: birth to 2, 3 to 6 and 7 to 10. A $5 donation per participant is requested. Proceeds will benefit Alzheimer’s Arkansas. The Easter Bunny will be there for pictures. FAIRFIELD BAY — The Fairfield Bay Library Friends Inc. will host it sixth annual Tee It Up for Literacy golf tournament Saturday at the Indian Hills Country Club. Dardanelle Driver Safety Class
DARDANELLE — An AARP Driver Safety classroom course will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Dardanelle Senior Activity Center, 705 N. Fifth St. A one-hour lunch break will begin at 11:30 a.m., with lunch available at the center. To register, call (479) 229-4129. The class is open to licensed drivers of any age. Seating is limited to 40 people on a first-come, first-served basis. The course will be presented by an AARP-certified instructor through a combination of instruction, video and workbook participation. Those who complete the course may be eligible for an appropriate discount on their auto-insurance premiums. The fee for the course is $15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers. There is no test.

QuickBooks Online
RUSSELLVILLE — The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center will present QuickBooks Online from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Arkansas Tech University. The session is designed for business owners and their employees who have little or no experience using the online QuickBooks Harmony platform. Topics will include navigation, setting up a company and working with lists, customers, vendors, inventory, reports and more. A computer with Wi-Fi will be provided for each participant for use during the interactive session. The cost is $65. Crowns for a Cure Entry Deadline
RUSSELLVILLE — Tuesday is the entry deadline for Crowns for a Cure, the second annual Little Miss and Mr. Relay for Life Pageant. The pageant is held in conjunction with the Relay for Life of Pope and Yell counties, set for April 25 and 26 at the Pope County Fairgrounds. Opening ceremonies for the relay will begin at 7 p.m. April 25, and the pageant will begin at 7:30 p.m. on the fairground stage. The pageant includes three age groups: 2-4, 5-7 and 8-11. Winners will receive a sash, a crown and $50, and the entry fee is $25. Proceeds will benefit Relay for Life, the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. This year’s Relay for Life theme is “Dr. Seuss,” and contestants are asked to dress in their best Seussville outfits. Softball Tournament Registration Deadline
RUSSELLVILLE — The deadline is noon Wednesday to register for the the 19th annual Battle on the Bayou softball tournament, held by the Russellville Recreation and Parks Department. The tournament will be April 19 at Pleasant View Park. The USSSA-sanctioned tournament is open for Men’s Class E and Women’s Class D and below teams. The entry fee is $185, plus the sanctioning fee. Arkansas Society of Printmakers
CONWAY — The Hendrix College Department of Art will host the Arkansas Society of Printmakers’ exhibit Print Evolution through April 24. The closing reception will be from 6-7 p.m. April 24 in the Art Building A Gallery. Print Evolution is an exchange portfolio by the ASP. On view is a collection of original fine-art prints. Each print is a collaboration between two members of the group. Included are woodcuts, lithographs, screen prints, etchings and monotypes.
