Romance woman killed after RV strikes Jeep

A Romance woman was killed Sunday after the Jeep she was riding in was struck by a Winnebago on Arkansas 5 in White County, authorities say.

Gina L. Bass, 50, was the passenger in a 2009 Jeep Patriot traveling north on Arkansas 5 near the junction with Arkansas 31 about 12:50 p.m. when the driver, Courtney Bass, 21, attempted to make a U-turn, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

The Jeep was struck from behind by a 2005 Winnebago driven by Patrick Sims, 72, of Cabot. The accident injured Courtney Bass and killed Gina Bass. Sims was not injured, police say.

Conditions were described as clear and dry at the time of the accident.

Bass’s death was the 253rd in a traffic crash on Arkansas roads in 2014, according to preliminary figures.
