Families in 12 Arkansas counties that have received electricity disconnection notices are eligible to apply for Crisis Low-Income Home Energy Assistance starting Aug. 25, the Central Arkansas Development Council has announced. Applications for regular aid will no longer be accepted, the private nonprofit agency said.
To qualify, people must present a notice with a disconnect date that is within seven days of the application date, the agency said. Eligible households must meet income guidelines — for a household of one, the monthly countable income threshold is $1,482 — and give proof of all household income for the previous month.
Proof of income should include child support, unemployment, Social Security, retirement, pensions, workers’ compensation or disability, or utility allowance or however bills are paid, if the household has no income.
In Pulaski County, applications will be accepted from 8 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Monday through Wednesday at the Arkansas Workforce Center of Little Rock, 5401 S. University Ave. More information is available by calling (501) 603-0909.
