Red Wolves get Rockets in GoDaddy

Arkansas State is a regular visitor at the GoDaddy Bowl, but its opponent will be at Ladd-Peebles Stadium for the first time in almost a decade.

The Mobile, Ala.-based bowl announced Sunday that Toledo is its selection from the Mid-American Conference. The Rockets (8-4) will be making their first trip to the GoDaddy Bowl since 2005, when they beat Texas-El Paso 45-13. The Red Wolves, of course, are playing in the game for the fourth consecutive season.

The Rockets were 7-1 in the MAC this year, and finished in a tie with Northern Illinois at the top of the MAC West. Northern Illinois beat Toledo 27-24 during the season and played in the MAC championship game, where it beat Bowling Green 51-17 on Friday night.

Toledo is led by 11 All-MAC players, including running back Kareem Hunt, who led the MAC with 151.1 rushing yards per game, and 7.9 yards per carry. ASU (7-5) allowed 191.9 rushing yards per season, sixth in the Sun Belt.

The GoDaddy Bowl will kick off a series of games that will get Toledo familiar with Arkansas teams. Toledo will play Arkansas at War Memorial Stadium on Sept. 12 next season, and ASU will visit Toledo on Sept. 26. Toledo will play at Centennial Bank Stadium in Jonesboro on Sept. 3, 2015.

Other Sun Belt-related match ups were announced on Sunday, too. Louisiana-Lafayette will play Nevada in the Dec. 20 New Orleans Bowl. South Alabama will play Bowling Green in the Dec. 20 Camellia Bowl. Texas State was not selected for a bowl game.
