LR tobacco store robbed; man flees

Little Rock police are searching for a man who robbed the Tobacco Outlet on University Avenue on Monday night.

About 6:34 p.m., Latonia Stewart, 47, and Melissa McNeal, 45, were working behind the counter at the store, located at 1508 S. University Ave., when a man entered the store wearing an outfit with a navy blue hood and a black mask, police say.

Stewart was about to tell the man that he needed to remove his hood before entering when he pulled out a silver, semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at the two women, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

The robber demanded that the clerks put the money into a bag and then said, “Bitch, this is going to be a murder,” the report states.

The women complied with the robber’s demands, and he told them to lie on the floor and count to 200 as he ran from the store with an undisclosed amount of money, according to police.

Police say the robber is a 6-foot-2 black man, 25 to 35 years old and about 300 pounds and who was wearing gray pants and black tennis shoes.

No arrests have been made.
