SKOPJE, Macedonia — Macedonia's parliament has adopted a bill imposing chemical castration on repeat offenders convicted of sexually abusing children — but the country's leading child protection group said Wednesday that the law is still too lenient.

The Megjasi child protection group, which had campaigned for the procedure to be imposed on pedophiles, said the penalty should be mandatory even for first-time offenders.

Lawmakers voted Monday to make penalties harsher for convicted pedophiles, increasing the maximum sentence from 15 years to life imprisonment and imposing chemical castration on second-time offenders, with the procedure to be imposed on their release from prison. It introduces a minimum 15-year prison term for severe sexual offenses against minors, while other sexual-related crimes against children are punishable by between three and 10 years in prison.

The legislation also offers reduced prison sentences to first-time offenders agreeing to undergo the procedure voluntarily.

The procedure involves regular injections that decrease the production of testosterone. The bill doesn't specify a length of time for the treatment.

Surgical castration would be a stronger deterrent.

What was his name - Wayne "something" (?) (can't remember) who was castrated and then went on to kill other women in another state? Yeah, castration doesn't work as far as aggression and there are many types of rape that doesn't involve a man's equipment.

If 50-75 years from now, pedophiles will seek the "right" to marry children and because society will be even more "enlightened" then, it will be allowed, just like gay "marriage" is becoming now.

Good for Macedonia, except it should be done with a dull knife.

Dontcallmenames, do your gay relatives know of your utter hatred and contempt for them?

Your day is over. Liberty is winning. Deal with it.

(And shut up, Bucky. Bad kitty!)

I think they should create a guillotine like the head decapitation method to stretch the sack into and then the guys with the masks over there heads could drop the blade. Then they could use a red hot iron to cauterize the bleeding wound. This seems like a proper and fast way to fix the problems and a deterrent as well.

And for the record, I'm more than fine with this punishment.

Pedophiles should be locked away forever.

dontcallmenames, marrying children isn't a gay thing. Those Mormon offshoots have gotten in trouble for it, as did Tony Alamo. Seems to be more of a religious issue than a gay one. Your hateful prejudices are blinding you.

Hey goo goo and dontsuffer - Why are you hating on Dontcallme? Fifty years ago the vast majority of society felt homosexuality to be an abomination and would scoff at anyone's claim that it was a "right". America seems to have "evolved" on the issue. Who's to say America will not evolve in similar fashion on pedophilia? Look whose hateful prejudices are blinding them now.......
