DORIS CLARK, 78, of Little Rock, left her family and friendsto be with The Lord on February 26, 2014. She retired from Southwestern Bell after 35 years of service. She spent much of the rest of her life volunteering for the American RedCross and St. Vincent Infirmary. Giving to others was always very important to her.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Clark and his wife Katie; sister, Linda Eaves and husband Johnny of Longview, Texas; cousin, Mary Bish of Mabelvale; nephew, Doug Macdonald of Little Rock; many nieces, nephews and precious friends. Preceding her in death were her husband, John E. Clark; her mother and father, Ruth and Carl Highley; and three sisters Helen, JoAnn and Carolyn.

The family wishes to thank Arkansas Hospice for their love and care. Also, thank you to Sandy and Tonya at Christian Companion.

VIVIAN MAXINE WHITEHURST CYPERT, 87, of Little Rock, passedfrom this earthly life on February 26, 2014 at Hospice Home Care Center in Little Rock. She fought a strong battle after complications from surgery. Maxine was born November3, 1926 in Portia, Arkansas to Fred and Etta Hodge. She will be remembered for her sweet smile, her love for the Lord, her love for her family and her dedication to her church. For her there is no period at the end of life, only a comma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bobby Hodge and beloved grandson, Scott Smith. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Larry Hardy, and Barbara and Vic Smith, all of Little Rock; her grandchildren, Belinda (Brad) Reynolds of Ft. Worth, Texas, John Hardy of Athens, Georgia, Stacy (Monica) Smith of Little Rock; great-grandchildren, Colby and Haylie Reynolds, Julian, Elliot and Piper Smith; her sisters, Louise Clark and Mable (Buck) Jones of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and Linda Clayton of Heber Springs; her brothers, Fred (Marilyn) Hodge of Walnut Ridge and Donnie (Sue) Hodge of Conway; other extended family and lots of loving friends who will miss her greatly.

CATHLEEN JACKSON HICKS, 86, of Little Rock, Ark., passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014. She was born March 24, 1927 to Marcus and Ora Jackson. She was retired from St. Vincent Hospital.

Cathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Hicks; her parents; and one brother, Linvelle Jackson. She is survived by one son, Michael (Jan) Hicks of Little Rock; two grandchildren, Michelle (Jim) Harrington and Tim Hicks; two sisters, Geraldine Richey and Juanita (Albert) Ables; and one brother, Earl (Martha) Jackson.

WALTER T. JONES, age 83, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, died onFebruary 26, 2014, surrounded by family. He was born February 3, 1931 in Lafayette County near Stamps, Arkansas, to the late Horace and Ora (McClure) Jones.

Walt (knownas “Tommy” as a youth) joined the United States Air Force upon graduation from Stamps High School in 1949 and served until 1969 when he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. He served in San Antonio, London, Little Rock, Shreveport, and Germany during his Air Force career. After retirement, he worked for the Frank Lyon Company in Little Rock. He joined the Sardis Methodist Church at age 13, and he was anactive member of the First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville since 1969, where he served on the Administrative Board, Finance Committee, and Trustees. He was an Auxiliary member at the North Metro Medical Center.

Walt was preceded in death by one son, Scott Boyer Jones; and two brothers, Jay Dale and Charles Jones. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris (Boyer) Jones; son Todd Jones of North Little Rock; daughters Vicky Evans and husband David of Jacksonville, and Donna Mallard and husband Vincent of Cabot; brother John Paul Jones of McAllen, Texas; grandchildren Tracy Haselow and husband Dirk, Megan Evans and husband Will Atchley, Scott Evans, Troy Jones, Emily Mallard, Kyle Mallard; and great-grandchildren Hunter Jones, Aiden Jones, Faith Jones, Nathaniel Haselow, Abigail Haselow, and Asa Atchley.

Known throughout his life for his generosity and eagerness to help anyone in need, Walt has willed his body to science. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville. BEEBE - Carthel Calvin “Rip” Gillham, 88, of Beebe, Ark., died February 27, 2014 at his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Vera Barr Gillham, brother, Joe Gillham, sister, Bessie Mae Duggar, and his wife, Patsy Bevill Gillham. He is survived by his wife, Jo Nell Gillham; son, Timothy (John) Gillham of Charlottesville, Va.; step-daughters, Gwenna (Robbie) Hill of Quitman, and Tami (Mike) Meyers of Clinton; brothers Johnny (Nadine) Gillham, Jimmy Ray (Martha) Gillham; sisters Lucille Wood, Ida Vernell “Mickey” Risk; and many nephews, nieces and grandchildren.

He was a member of McRae United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, and was awarded WWII Victory Ribbon, AP Theater Ribbon and Bronze Service Star. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Shriner, and founding leader of Sherwood’s first Cub Scout Troop.

BENTON - James D. Mosley, 67, of Benton passed awayWednesday, February 26. He was born February 15, 1947, to Thomas and Dorothy Mosley, in Camden, Ark. Jim grew up in Kansas City, graduating from Ruskin High School in1965 and Central Missouri State in 1969.

Jim worked as an Accountant for Graybar Electric for 30 years, eventually settling in Texas. He became a volunteer firefighter and President of the Klein Volunteer Fire Department, serving alongside his second wife and the love of his life, Jean Stevens. They married on May 23, 1986.

In 2002, he and Jean retired to Benton, Ark., where he worked for the state Health Department for 11 years, retiring a second time last July. Jim was a loving husband and father, never letting a moment pass without telling his family how much he loved them. He constantly modeled what it means to be a man of integrity. He was passionate about history, the outdoors, politics, and fishing. He will be remembered for his story telling, and like a true fisherman, the stories were always longer and better than the actual events. He always managed to make people laugh.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Jean of Benton, Ark.; his mother, Dorothy and brother, Tom, of Kansas City; son, Kale and his wife Rebecca of Derby, Kan.; son, Kurt and his wife Laura of Holly Springs, North Carolina; daughter Kelly Hulen and her husband Brian of Lewisville, Texas; and stepson, Chris Stevens and his wife, Jessica, of Castle Rock, Colo.; five grandsons; five granddaughters; four nephews; and three nieces.

BRYANT - Mildred Guillory, age 83, passed away February 26, 2014, in Hospice Care in Bryant, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon Guillory of Marksville, La.; father and mother, Bess and Eula Smith of Reader, Ouachita Co.; two sisters, Beadia (Pledger) Grayson of Emerson and Blanche (William James) Oliver of Prescott. CABOT - Guy A. Duckworth, age 91, of Cabot went to be withhis Lord on February 25, 2014, in Little Rock. He was born on March 3, 1922, in Hamburg, Arkansas, to the late Thomas and Elizabeth Cole Duckworth.

Also preceded in death by hiswife June Duckworth, six brothers: H.C. Hildreth, Kenneth Duckworth, Tom Duckworth, Larry Duckworth, Bobby Duckworth, and Ralph Duckworth, five sisters: Edith Duckworth, Myrtice Duckworth, Vivian Tipper, Polly Chisum, and Betty Shields. Guy was retired MSGT after 20years with United States Air Force.

Eleanor was born on August 31, 1917, in Hope, Ark., to Lindon and Eleanor Gertrude Shelton. She graduated from Monticello High School and attended Arkansas A&M College and Monticello Business College. Eleanor married Dan Wright Gill Jr. on June 30, 1940. He preceded her in death in February, 2005.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Dumas and was active in teaching the three year old Sunday School class, Royal Ambassadors and Sunbeams. She was also active with P.T.A. and Cub Scouts.

Eleanor was a remarkable woman loved by all who knew her especially her grandchildren. They cherish memories of her sweet and thoughtful spirit. They will tell you she could build anything, sew anything, and cook the most delicious meals.

A funeral service will be held to celebrate the life of Eleanor Gill on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Dumas. Pallbearers will be Nathan Jones, Adam Jones, Ryan Gill, Gary Gill, David Beam, Martin Henry, Matt Backus, and Jordan Wimpy.

HOT SPRINGS - Daniel B. “Dan” Darnell, Jr., born November 26, 1925, to Daniel B. Darnell and Louise Ross Darnell, went to meet his Maker on February 25, 2014.

He was predeceased by a younger brother, Manuel B. Darnell; bothhis sons, Donald W. Darnell and Phillip D. Darnell; his mother and father; and his stepson, Jerry. L. DeWitt. He is survived by his adopted daughter, Tamara Darnell Byrd; stepdaughter, Patti DeWitt Folkerts, and stepson, Laurie L. DeWitt of Batesville, Arkansas, and several grandchildren. He is also survived by his soul-mate of 43 years, his wife Pat Pine Darnell.

Daniel served with the First Marine Division in the South Pacific in WW2 covering Cape Gloucester New Britain, Peleliu and Okinawa. He authored a book about that era: Great Men Cry, Too. He had a varied career which included Sales, Service and Instruction. He managed the Neal Piano Company Hot Springs for ten years and spent ten years tuning pianos in the community. For several years, he covered the state selling Encyclopaedia Britannica. The last twelve years of his work was with Walmart.

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE - James E. “Jim” Niemczyk, 76,of Hot Springs Village passed away February 26, 2014. He was born May 17, 1937, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Lawrence and Mary Niemczyk. Jim grew up in the Rice Street area ofSt. Paul, attending St. Agnes High School and St. Thomas College. He worked in the transportation field for many years andretired from Twin Model Inc. in 2002. He lived for many years in the White Bear Lake area, was an avid golfer and a member of the Dellwood Golf Club. He and his wife of 47 years, Sharon, moved to Hot Springs Village after retirement and continued to play golf. Jim loved to follow the financial markets each day and was fondly known as Sharon’s Handyman around the house.

He is predeceased by his parents and son, James. Jim is survived by the love of his life, Sharon Niemczyk; granddaughter, Desaree Avitt; great grandchildren, Kira, Austin, Olivia and Jaxson; siblings, Larry (Colleen) Niemczyk, Mary Kay McMahon, Eileen (Al) Schusted, Bill Niemczyk and Sue Niemczyk; and many nieces and nephews.

RISON - Mr. Donald Wayne Martin of Rison, Ark. passed awayWednesday, February 26, 2014, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He was born June 6, 1945, in Clarendon, Arkansas, the son of Benny Mills Martin and Dorothy WallaceMartin. Mr. Martin was educated in Pine Bluff, Ark., graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1963. He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving his country in the US Air Force. Mr. Martin was a commercial insurance agent in Pine Bluff working at Means & McClellan, Rebsamen, McNew, and First Arkansas Insurance Agencies. In January 1998, he opened the Martin McNew Agency and retired from the partnership in 2011.

Upon his retirement, he threw himself into enjoying his many lifelong passions. After traveling throughout the Western U.S., he spent his time preparing delicious gourmet meals for family and friends, singing in his church choir, entertaining us all with a lively tune from his harmonica, completing projects around his home and writing and reading with his wife. Never at a loss for something to do, Don was an accomplished artist, an avid gardener and never lost interest in his childhood fascination with rocks, arrowheads and all things found in the earth. His home was always open and his Thanksgiving meals were legendary.

Don was an original member of the Meatmasters Barbeque Team, winning many trophies and awards throughout Arkansas. He was a longtime member and officer of the Pine Bluff Downtown Lions Club. He was a T-Ball and girls softball coach in Rison, and a member of the Rison United Methodist Church.

Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Benny and Dorothy Martin. He is survived by his wife, Pamela England Martin of Rison, whom he married on April 7, 1990; three daughters, Ann Martin Gould of Ringgold, La., Catherine Martin McKnight of Little Rock, and Dr. Rebecca (Dr. Grant Mathews) Martin ofMt. Home; a step-daughter, Emily Robinson Killgore of Rison and a step-son, Michael (Lindsay) Robinson, of Rogers; grandchildren, Dawson & Martin Gould, Luke & Kate McKnight, Kohler, Savannah, & Lily Mathews, Addison King and Cole Taylor; sisters, Loretta Martin Green, of Nashville, Tenn., and Jan Martin Hodge, of Clarendon, Ark.; brother, Tommy Martin of Clarendon; uncles, Bobby Martin and Billy Martin of Clarendon; numerous nieces and nephews.

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Mary Nell Thomason passed away February 25, 2014 of pancreatic cancer. Mary was born to Cora and Burke Hodnett on February 27, 1935 in Fordyce, Ark. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Tommie. CYPRESS, Texas - Garland P. Kirkpatrick, 85, passed awaypeacefully in Houston, Texas on February 21, 2014. He was a former resident of Jonesboro and Beebe, Arkansas. Born January 16, 1929 in Rover, Yell County, Arkansas he was the son on Martha Dona Burruss and Walter Clinton Kirkpatrick. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Alva Marie Hogan.

Garland began a 50-year banking career at Peoples National Bank in Little Rock in 1947. In 1952, he and his wife Wilma moved to Jonesboro and through the years he was associated with First National Bank, Mercantile Bank, Bank of Nettleton and Pulaski Bank & Trust of Little Rock. His greatest business accomplishment was organizing the First State Bank of Beebe which was granted its charter in 1981. In addition to banking, Garland acquired Town & Country Insurance Agency-Jonesboro and was owner/executive broker of Arkansas Real Estate & Insurance-Beebe. Garland retired in 1997.

Through his life, Garland was actively involved in many civic and charitable organization and committed to community service wherever he lived. Lions Club, Elks Club, Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, United Way, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Northeast Arkansas Mental Health Association were dear to him. He proudly served on the Arkansas State University-Beebe Development Council and many other associations.

Garland is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wilma Marie Russell Kirkpatrick, two daughters, Marilyn (Mrs. Vince) Lyden of Cypress, Texas and Carolyn Watkins of Katy, Texas, four grandchildren Laura Palmer, Russell Palmer, Olivia Watkins and Garland Marie Watkins, one great-grandson, Hunter Hayden McCabe.
