LITTLE ROCK — Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Mike Ross has raised more than $550,000 in the final months of 2013 in his bid for Arkansas' top office.

The former congressman's campaign said Wednesday that he ended 2013 with $2.5 million cash on hand and had raised $3.65 million since announcing his bid in April. Wednesday is the deadline for candidates to file their fundraising reports for the quarter that ended Dec. 31.

Ross is the only Democrat seeking the state's top office. Democratic Gov. Mike Beebe is barred by term limits from seeking re-election this year.

Former U.S. Rep. Asa Hutchinson, state Rep. Debra Hobbs and Little Rock businessman Curtis Coleman are seeking the GOP nomination. Hutchinson announced last week that he raised more than $445,000 during the quarter.

Who are these idiots giving money to "business as usual"? Ross is just more mediocrity for our state that needs less government.

Tea Party darling; right-wing to the extreme; chameleonic in conviction; sanctimonious by appearance; utter lack of perspective; political prude that led the scheme to impeach Arkansas’s favorite son and one of the most capable US presidents we’ve ever had! Mr. Hutchinson, this is not the best of records on which to run for governor of the proud State of Arkansas—or for any other public office for that matter. Arkansans have far better memories than you give us credit for.

yah, fdarf, I am with you on this one, for a change.
Asa has much baggage by which to be disgusted. The drug czar work was the worst reflection on him, in my opinion. Ross is definitely renting the insects. (the lessor of two weevils.)

Arkansas Republican gubernatorial candidate Asa Hutchinson commented on a report posted earlier this week by El Universal alleging that the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration coordinated with a powerful Mexican drug cartel, allowing drugs to flow into the U.S. in exchange for information on rival cartels.

"As the head of the DEA I had 4,000 agents working to enforce our drug laws and, without being personally familiar with every case, I do know that the DEA worked every day to diminish the power of the cartels and to bring the drug kingpins to justice. Since there may be sensitive investigations that are impacted by this story I will leave further comment to the DEA."

yeah, right ASA. You sound just like all of the other liars in Washington.

All those millions will do Ross little good as he attempts to run and hide from his party affiliation. Ross is of the party that supports abortion on demand. Ross is of the party that supports state sanctioned same-sex marriage. Ross is of the party of class warfare. Ross is of the party of gun control. Ross is of the party of Obamacare. Ross is of the party of amnesty for illegals. Ross is of the party of BH Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi. Ross can use those millions to put lipstick on his democrat pig, but it will always be a pig. I agree Asa's baggage and Romney like personality will make it a very close race.

Where have all the leaders gone, long time passing?
Where have all the leaders gone, long time ago?
Where have all the leaders gone?
    Money corrupted them, every one
When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?
