Travs do their damage in final 2 at-bats

The Arkansas Travelers scored four runs in the eighth inning Saturday night to beat the Tulsa Drillers 5-2 before an announced crowd of 8,076 at ONEOK Field in Tulsa.

Trailing 2-0, Maikol Gonzalez started the rally with a walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch by Nelson Gonzalez and moved to third on Alex Yarbrough's single. Nate Striz came into replace Nelson Gonzalez and gave up a double down the left-field line by Brian Hernandez that scored Maikol Gonzalez to pull the Travs to 2-1.

Mike Bianucci doubled to left-center field to score Yarbrough and Hernandez to put the Travs up 3-2. After Matt Long struck out, Jett Bandy singled to right-center field to score Bianucci to make it 4-2 but was thrown out at second trying to take the extra base. Michael Snyder grounded out to end the inning.

In the ninth, Drew Heid reached on a bunt, moved to second on Eric Stamets' sacrifice bunt and scored on Hernandez's single to make it 5-2.

After giving up singles to Delta Cleary and Tyler Massey and throwing a wild pitch that moved both runners into scoring position, Cam Bedrosian struck out Taylor Featherston, Ryan Casteel and Trevor Story to end the game for his 13th save of the season.

The Drillers took a 1-0 lead in the second when Chris O'Dowd signled to left to score Story. In the fifth, they made it 2-0 when Casteel singled to right to score Cleary.

Danny Reynolds (2-2) pitched a scoreless eighth to get the victory. Striz (2-1) took the loss, allowing 3 runs -- 2 earned -- on 5 hits in the last two innings.
