Kerusso makes items as Left Behind tie-ins

Berryville-based Christian apparel company Kerusso is offering an exclusive line of products for the movie Left Behind, now in theaters. As the official apparel partner for the film, the company is offering T-shirts, tumblers, a hat and a pair of wristbands.

Kerusso has partnered on movie projects before, including Soul Surfer, Fireproof, Courageous and Moms' Night Out. This latest partnership, with Stoney Lake Entertainment, was for the film adaptation of the best-selling Left Behind book series written by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. The books were previously adapted into a three-film series in the early 2000s starting Kirk Cameron. The new film stars Nicholas Cage.

Vic Kennett, chief executive officer of Kerusso, said he is a longtime fan of the book series and believes strongly in the message of the movie, as well.

"We thought this was a good fit and felt it would be a good business move, as well," Kennett said.

The film focuses on the end of days and the chaos that ensues for those left behind after the rapture. It opened Oct. 3 and during its first weekend the movie grossed $6.3 million, ending up in sixth place in terms of money earned. Gone Girl, starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike, came in first with about $38 million.

"We always enjoy working on products for a film," Kennett said. "While it is important to reflect the artistic value of the film, it is just as important to remain true to our mission to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with our products. Like this film, our T-shirts and gifts deliver an extremely powerful message."

The company, started in Kennett's bedroom in Eureka Springs more than 27 years ago, now sells products in more than 100 countries. The Left Behind products are available at kerusso.com.
