FALLS BRANCH TRAIL
LAKE CATHERINE STATE PARK
Location: Trailhead for three trails is at the shelter near the amphitheater at the end of the campground.
GPS: 34.431895, -92.913227
Length: This moderately difficult loop trail (follow red blazes) is 2.1 miles the long way around (to the right) or 1.06 miles to the waterfall and back if you bear left along the lake.
Main attractions: One of the most scenic short hikes in any state park, with a nifty waterfall that's especially nice after a rain.
Hazards: Rocks are wet and slippery around the creek.
Dog, bike, tyke friendly? No bikes allowed, but kids and dogs will love this -- especially the shortcut along the lake.
