Four road-work zones set over holiday weekend

Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department officials warn drivers of possible traffic delays due to increased traffic volume and work zones over the holiday weekend.

The department said expects the most Memorial Day travelers since 2005 because of lower gas prices and an improved job market, and it said four major lane closures will be in place over the holiday.

A lane of Interstate 40 in West Memphis between mile markers 277 and 282 will be closed in each direction; a southbound Interstate 430 lane at mile markers 5 and 6, between the Shackleford Road and I-630 exits in Little Rock, will be closed; an Interstate 530 lane between mile markers 1 and 9, or between I-440 East and Bingham Road in Little Rock, will be closed in each direction; and a U.S. 67 lane in both directions at mile markers 50 to 55 in Bald Knob will be closed.

Drivers can check IDriveArkansas.com for accidents and work zone backups, as well as alternate routes when travel is delayed.
