SPRINGDALE -- A Springdale man police say is linked to gang-related crimes was arrested Saturday in connection with rape, terroristic threatening, false imprisonment and a misdemeanor offense, according to a preliminary police report Saturday.

Pascual Carbajal, 21, of 401 Geneva St. in Springdale was arrested after police said he raped, beat and threatened a woman Friday night and into Saturday morning, May 1-2, according to the report.

The beating and abuse spanned roughly nine hours while the woman's three small children were in the home, according to the report.

The woman eventually was able to escape and go to a neighbor's home to call police, according to the report. She was taken to Northwest Medical Center-Springdale, police said.

Law enforcement officials had been looking for Carbajal since May 2, Springdale Sgt. Josh Kirmer said.

When Benton County Sheriff's Office deputies found Carbajal, he and the driver of the car led deputies on a high-speed chase Wednesday that ended in a serious wreck in Rogers, Kirmer said.

Carbajal's arm was broken in multiple places, Kirmer said. The driver of the vehicle had to be resuscitated, he said.

Kirmer didn't know the name of the driver Saturday. He referred questions to the Benton County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's Office spokesman Keshia Guyll didn't return a voice-mail message left Saturday afternoon.

Kirmer said police placed guards on Carbajal while he was at Mercy Hospital in Rogers. Carbajal was arrested Saturday when he was discharged from the hospital, Kirmer said.

Carbajal, who calls himself "Aimer," is linked to a gang called Wicked Brown Suspects, according to the police report. The gang has been involved in crimes that include stealing weapons and shooting at people, according to police.

Carbajal has an extensive criminal history, including rape, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, theft of property and carrying certain prohibited weapons, according the preliminary report.

Carbajal was last arrested March 29 in connection with possession of a firearm by a certain person and fleeing, according to news records. His bond at the time was $3,500.

Carbajal was on probation when police said he attacked the woman, according to the police report.

Carbajal also is the man a teenager told police he and his friends were looking for when they shot and killed Jimmy Rodriguez, 20, last month, according to Kirmer and police records. The drive-by shooting was gang related, police said previously.

The teens shot Rodriguez after they could not find "Aimer," whom "they felt had disrespected their gang," according to an April preliminary police report. Police arrested Jose Delatorre, 18, Rodolfo Martinez, 18, and Giovanni Vasquez-Sanchez, 18, in connection to Rodriguez's death. A 13-year-old boy is also involved in the shooting, police have said.

Police consider Carbajal a flight risk, according to the most-recent report. Police asked for the highest bond possible.

Carbajal was at the Washington County Detention Center with no bond and a hold from another department Saturday. He is expected to face charges in Benton County, too, Kirmer said.
