Three killed in traffic accidents on highways across Arkansas

A Dardanelle man was killed after being thrown from his motorcycle in a Sunday evening wreck in Logan County, Arkansas State Police said.

Danny Wheeler, 23, of Dardanelle was traveling east on Arkansas 22 on a 2012 Suzuki motorcycle at 8:27 p.m. Sunday, state police reported. A 2001 GMC pulled out from Stapleton Lane to turn left onto the highway.

The Suzuki struck the GMC, throwing Wheeler from the motorcycle, according to state police. Wheeler died at the scene.

Conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash.

State police also reported Sunday that a Jacksonville man died Friday from injuries received in an Oct. 6 wreck in Pulaski County.

Evan Malat, 25, of Jacksonville was traveling north on U.S. 67/167 in a 1999 Ford when the vehicle left the roadway to the right and struck several trees, state police said.

The wreck occurred at 4:20 p.m. Oct. 6 near mile marker 8 in Jacksonville, according to state police. Malat was taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock where he died Friday.

Conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the accident.

State police said Saturday that one person died Friday from injuries received in a four-vehicle wreck earlier that day on Interstate 40 in Conway County.

A 2015 Dodge Caravan was slowing to a stop due to a traffic backup on eastbound I-40 near mile marker 120 south of Menifee when it was rear-ended by a 1996 Peterbilt, state police reported. The Dodge then struck a 2013 GMC Terrain which hit an unknown vehicle that left the scene, state police said.

The wreck occurred at 2:24 p.m. Friday.

Malcolm Xavier Webb, 23, of Little Rock was a passenger in the Dodge, according to state police. Webb was taken to Conway Regional Medical Center and died at 3:53 p.m. Friday.

According to state police, the driver of the Dodge, Brianna McCullough, 24, of St. Louis was injured. Also hurt were three passengers in the vehicle: Aleisha Brown, 22, of Sherwood; Joshua Banner-Summerville, 22, of Little Rock; and Jacob Deaver, 26, of Sherwood.

The driver of the GMC, Jacqueline Chandler, 51, of Kansas City, Mo., and a passenger in the vehicle, Tony Dewayne Glover Jr., 21, of Little Rock also were injured.

The injured were taken to various hospitals, according to state police.

Conditions were cloudy and the road was wet at the time of the crash.
