Gov. Asa Hutchinson on Thursday named Kane Webb as the new executive director of the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism.
Webb’s appointment was confirmed Thursday morning by a vote of the Parks, Recreation and Travel Commission.
Webb, 51, worked as a journalist for 30 years before he served as a senior adviser and communications aide to Hutchinson. He worked as a sports writer at the Arkansas Democrat and worked as an editor at publications including Arkansas Life and Louisville magazine.
“He has a deep and abiding passion for Arkansas,” Hutchinson said in a statement. “He’s written about more people, places and events in this state than I can count, and he understands how important parks and tourism are to Arkansans and its economic importance to our state.”
