Police: Conway man dies playing Russian roulette

A 20-year-old Conway man died playing a game of Russian roulette at a private Arkansas hunting property, police in Jefferson County said.

A news release from the Jefferson County sheriff's office said James Luke Baker was with three friends at the private Prairie Wings property adjoining the Bayou Metro Wildlife Management Area Saturday night when he accidentally killed himself.

Baker was reportedly smoking marijuana while two of his friends slept when he suggested playing the deadly game to another friend, police said.

According to the report, the friend declined to play while Baker loaded one round, pointed and fired an empty chamber at the ceiling.

When the friend went to wake the others, they heard the gun go off and found Baker in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to the head, the report said.

Baker's friends, unable to call for help on the 1,625-acre property, drove to the Jefferson County Medical Center where Baker was pronounced dead.
